iOS Photos App

Apple tweaked its stock Photos app in iOS 14 to improve user navigation, discoverability, and album management. Though many features are still playing catch up with photo management softwares like Lightroom or Apple developed and discontinued Aperture software, it is already one that is by default in our iPhones and used by billions of users. One of the improvements we saw in iOS 14 is the addition of a new sort options within albums.

The sort options, though limited, enables you to view the contents of your albums in order from oldest to newest, newest to oldest, or in a custom order entirely of your choosing, making it easier to find what you’re looking for.

The following steps show you how to find and use the new photo album sort options on iPhones and iPads running ‌‌iOS 14‌‌ and later.

  1. Launch the stock Photos app on your iOS device.
  2. Select the Albums button at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Choose an album to sort.
  4. Tap the three dots in the top-right corner of the screen.

You have to remember that this feature works only in Albums and not in the whole photos app. We can’t wait to see what other improvements Apple is going to make with the Photos App in iOS 15.
