Apple invites developers to use the new advertising slot on the App Store even before they search.
Apple developers have been able to advertise via the App Store search results since 2016 but Apple didn’t make a major push towards the platform until recently. Users can now see a new ad section under “Discover” and “Suggested tabs.
Users may turn off App Store targeted ads in the Settings app by selecting Privacy, and selecting Apple Advertising. Turning off personal ads does not remove ads from the App Store but rather changes the tracking behavior of how ads are shown. Apple’s in-house advertising is privacy focused and doesn’t track users outside the App Store.
Apple recently made major changes in the way advertising works in iOS. App Tracking Transparency asks users for permission before enabling cross-app tracking.
